B – Biblical Authority
The Bible is our sole and final authority for faith and practice (II Peter 1:20–21; II Timothy
3:15–17; I Thessalonians 2:13; Psalm 12:6–7; 119:128).
A – Autonomy of the Local Church
The church is a local, independent, self-governing institution, accountable to the Lord
Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 3:21; I Corinthians 11:3; 12:12).
P – Priesthood of the Believer
The born-again believer has direct access to God, through Jesus Christ, our Great High
Priest (I Peter 2:9; Hebrews 4:14–16; I Timothy 2:5).
T – Two Church Offices
The two church offices of the church are pastors and deacons (I Timothy 3:1, 10:
I Peter 5:1, 5).
I – Individual Soul Liberty
Each person must make a personal decision of repentance and faith in Christ. The right to
private judgment and interpretation of the Scriptures (Romans 14:5, 12; II Corinthians 4:2;
S – Security of the Believer
After salvation the believer is sealed by the Holy Spirit of God until the Day of
Redemption (John 3:16; Romans 10:13; John 10:28–29; I Peter 1:5).
T – Two Church Ordinances
The two Ordinances to be kept by the church are Believer's baptism by immersion and The
Lord's Supper (Mark 16:15–16; Luke 3:7–8; Acts 8:12; I Corinthians 12:12–14;
I Corinthians 11:2; 23–32).
S – Separation of Church and State
God has established both church and government giving each its own distinct
jurisdiction (Romans 13:1–7; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 5:29; Proverbs 14:35, 29:2).
